The Golden Rules of Storing Champagne

Storing Champagne

Champagne deserves proper care to maintain its quality and taste. Whether you've just splurged on a special bottle or received a gift worth savoring, here's your guide to storing champagne the right way.

Keep It Cool: Store your champagne in a cool, consistent environment, ideally between 7-15°C. Fluctuating temperatures can impact the flavor and aging process, so avoid places with extreme temperature variations

Avoid Light Exposure: Keep them away from direct light. Ultraviolet rays can cause premature aging and affect the wine's taste. Store your bottles in a dark, quiet spot to let them age gracefully.

Horizontal Position: Unlike still wines, champagne bottles are best stored horizontally. This keeps the cork moist, preventing it from drying out and allowing air to seep in. A moist cork ensures a tight seal and preserves the effervescence.

With these tips, you should be able to keep your champagne for 2 to 3 years. If you cannot guarantee these conditions, consider consuming your champagne within 3-4 weeks after purchase. Did we need another excuse to pop a champagne bottle?
